A tiny ritual for 404s
Meet SkiFree: Lean Edition — the Phase 119 easter egg hiding on every missing page.
A tiny ritual for moments of loss: when you hit a 404 page, a small game icon appears at random. Click it to descend the transformation slope in SkiFree: Lean Edition — dodge the 8 Wastes (Transportation, Inventory, Motion, Waiting, Overproduction, Overprocessing, Defects, Skills), pass Kaizen gates for combo multipliers, and outrun Resistance to Change before it catches up. Or land on one of our other Lean micro-games. Available in all 13 shipped languages. Nothing to do. Just play.

SkiFree: Lean Edition, launched from a 404 page. The skier weaves between waste trees with the Resistance-to-Change yeti in pursuit.
How to find it
Open any ProBeya URL that doesn’t exist — for example, mistype a project slug, or follow an old link. Instead of a blank page, you’ll see the 404 message with a small, subtle game-launcher icon tucked beside it. The icon is chosen at random: sometimes SkiFree, sometimes one of the other Lean micro-games in the rotation.
What’s under the hood
- 8 Waste trees (the full Lean taxonomy: TIMWOODS — Transportation, Inventory, Motion, Waiting, Overproduction, Overprocessing, Defects, Skills) act as obstacles.
- Kaizen gates grant score multipliers for each consecutive gate passed — chain them for a combo.
- Resistance to Change (a pursuing yeti) spawns after 1,000 m. If it catches you, the run ends.
- Keyboard or touch — arrow keys / tap-zones to steer, space / double-tap to jump a ramp.
- 13 locales — every label, overlay, and hint lives in the same i18n catalog as the rest of ProBeya (EN, FR, NL, DE, IT, ES, PT, RU, AR, ID, ZH, JA, KO).
- Respects your settings — honours
prefers-reduced-motion(shorter intro, suppressed yeti glow) and carries a ≤ 35 KB gzipped budget so the 404 page stays fast.
Why a game on a 404?
404 pages are a small moment of frustration. A tiny, optional, lean-themed game turns that moment into something a bit kinder — and lets us quietly reinforce the 8 Wastes and the idea of Resistance to Change while we’re at it. No data leaves your browser. No tracking. Close the tab whenever you like.
